These days, Office Furniture comes in many shapes sizes and is designed for many different reasons. Some desks are practical and small with draws built in to store a small number of essentials such as stationary. Others are functional to the extreme with room for everything an office could possibly need and a little space left over to display a few personal touches. You may have a rows and rows of desks where telesales operatives churn out call after call with only a keyboard, screen and telephone on display.

A good manager would make sure their staff does not become demotivated by their surroundings. Staff that are comfortable with their office and with their surroundings are more likely to be in a positive frame of mind. A well laid out and modern looking office will make employees feel and act in a more professional manner. Through should then reflect in their performance and results and your efforts in attention to detail should then be rewarded.

The biggest and most successful companies in the world use Feng Shui and the principles of Feng Shui should be introduced in every work environment. They are easy to follow and there is a wealth of information around to help you. Some of the simpler ideas can be introduced immediately as they involve having a clutter free environment to allow the flow of chi.

The position of the desks are important too especially as this can affect the flow of chi energy. You should have people with their backs facing a wall or a corner and you should not face away from the door. Ideally, you should be as far as possible from the entrance door as this apparently gives a more commanding position.

Computers or telephones that are used for creating income streams are better placed in the southeast and it’s always nice to have some nice green indoor plants whether you are following Feng Shui principles or not. The principle beliefs behind having large leafy plants are that they promote good luck.

Red, like green is used in Feng Shui and is more associated with money. Using red for areas where you intend to have money flow to is a good start. There are many ways to introduce red in to your office color scheme but it can me something as simple as a red envelope with some cash or monthly target detailed inside. You could even have red upholstery on your chair, but you should have a good balance of colors.

You may or may not want to follow the principles I’ve mentioned and if you do then I suggest you read about the subject in much more depth. One thing I do recommend for everyone though is to make sure you choose the best desk chairs your budget can stretch to. Nothing tells an employee that you appreciate them more than a comfortable chair. At the very least make sure they are height adjustable and they adequately support the lower back.

No desk, filing cabinet, shelving system or exotic potted plant will do more for your sense of well being at your desk. Spend eight hours touching your desk and it’s still a flat piece of metal or wood. Spend two hours with your derriere and lumbar in contact with a bad chair and you already feel like you’ve had a long day. So when you come to choose your office furniture, make sure you choose wisely.

An attractive and functional computer desk may be one of the most important pieces of office furniture. Your computer desk should be selected to provide eye appeal and efficient use of space.
